Introduction to the Nikon D40

The Nikon D40 uses SD (Secure Digital) memory cards. Open the memory card slot cover. Insert the SD card with the label facing the back of the camera until it clicks into place. Close the cover.

Align the mounting mark on the lens with the lens mount index on the camera body. Rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it clicks into place. Remove the body cap and rear lens cap before attachment.
